Last week, we had the GC Café event at Shirakawa’s public library. During the morning’s Global Communication Course, Zoe Vincent talked about her home country of England. We learnt about the different countries in the United Kingdom, as well as about the complicated subject of “Brexit” (British + exit), in regards to the UK leaving the Europe Union. It was also really interesting to learn about slang found in different regions in the UK.
Then, in the afternoon, the English Communication Course took place and we talked about the holidays. Japan celebrates a lot of unique and traditional holidays all year round so it was fun discussing this topic with everyone.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the next GC Café in February!
