Established in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month sought to put spotlight on the importance of mental health and wellness.
Mental health is important at EVERY stage of life, from childhood to adulthood.
Mental Health Awareness aims to help those who are suffering to understand the symptoms of mental illness. This allows individuals to seek help or treatment before their conditions worsens.
If people around you are struggling with mental illness, it is important to support them. It is challenging to know what to do or say. There is one thing you need to make sure you do. It is to listen and validate their feeling. Even if you can not fully understand or relate to their stories, you want to communicate to your loved ones that they are perfectly ok.
There are so much more you can learn about mental health. Searching online is one of the ways to do so.
Seeking help is a sign of strength, not a weakness. And it is important to remember that treatment is effective!!
