The Culture of Japan Carp Streamers

In Japan, as May 5 approaches (Children's Day), "carp streamers" are displayed outdoors.
"Carp streamers" are streamers that resemble a carp, and they celebrate the growth of boys.
There is a legend where a carp climbs a waterfall and becomes a dragon, and so it’s treated as a symbol of success.
It is also in Japanese culture to celebrate the growth of girls with the festival “hinamatsuri”.
Is it part of your country’s culture to celebrate the growth of children?
