The Culture of Japan: “Hanami” (Flower Viewing)

2022.03.15

In Japan, when the cherry blossom season comes, you can do Hanami.

Hanami is the tradition of going and seeing the cherry blossoms, and celebrates the arrival of spring. People will spread a sheet under the cherry blossoms and eat together, and adults often drink alcohol.
In Fukushima Prefecture, there is “Miharu Takizakura", one of the three major cherry blossom sites in Japan.

Is there a spring celebration in your country?
